Crushed Toyota Axle Tubes
Too much hammerdown time!!
Both sides crushed underneath the spring perch
Toyota wide track (86 thru 95) rear axle
Newly aqquired Junkyard housing sanded, primed, painted with modification for strength done.
Here's a good image of the fix that me and TJ (Mightey Whitey) came up with to strengthen this part of the housing against a future repeat..
Notice how the spring perch is bent downward on the ends. Alot of force was in play for this one!
Alot of discussion went into the fact that if this fix was to fail it would peel the axle tube open creating a serious carnage situation out on the trail that would require
assistance to get out.. We decided that the forces in play would never reach through the strength gain and reach that seriously elevated point of
Failure as opposed to the factory non braced setup.
